The business class allows for the immigration of experienced business persons who can enrich Canadian economic development with their financial capital and business knowledge. Business class immigrants are selected on the basis of their ability to create jobs for themselves and other Canadians.
- Self-Employed Persons
To be eligible for the self-employed class, applicants must have experience that involved at least two years in cultural activities, athletics, and farm management. This category includes but is not limited to such occupations as authors, translators, librarians, musicians, actors, sculptors, athletes, coaches and referees.
The self-employed applicant must demonstrate the intention and the ability to establish a business that will, at a minimum, create employment for himself. Unlike the entrepreneur class, there are no conditions imposed to set up the self-employed business and there is no minimum financial investment.
